Équipements Survie Maritime

Since 1984, our company has specialized in inspection repairs of maritime survival equipment. Our team of professionals is always on the lookout for new technologies in order to provide the best services and insure the safety of our clients.

At ESM, we offer a wide range of services; in addition to our repair shops in Quebec, we can travel to provide you with technical information for your boats and advise you in the purchase process.

In June 2004, Transports Canada requirements exceeded international conventions norms (IMO) which specifically have for aim the improvement of safety at sea.

Our Mission

Safety at Sea

Our mission focuses specially on the improvement of safety at sea. Equipements Survie Maritime has the objective of meeting requirements by offering amongst other things:

Rescue and survival equipment to face the worst environmental conditions
Ability to evacuate
Installations specific to each type of boat
Training sessions
Any other safety equipment and material meeting the norms that can satisfy the most demanding amateur yachtsman as well as the specialized commercial clientele.

1984

Foundation

Founded in Gaspé, in 1984, by Mr Yvon Fortin, Équipements Survie Maritime (ESM) inspected and sold life rafts mostly for fishing boats.

1992

Léopold Bouchard

In 1992, ESM was sold to Captain Léopold Bouchard who had about 20 years experience in the maritime filed; ESM quickly build a reputation in sale of rescue equipment and after-sale services.

1998

Move

ESM moves its headquarters to Quebec City in order to accommodate an always growing clientele.

2007

New owners

Almost 10 years later, in 2007, ESM was bought by three company employees; Lauréat Arsenault who has worked for ESM since its creation in 1984 and has more than 25 years experience in the field; Léon Bluteau who built experiences in the fields of ship building and navigation for more than ten years before joining the ESM team in 2005; Marie-Hélène Gendron, graduate from Institut maritime de Rimouski in Navigation and having navigated for many years joining the ESM team in 2005.

2015

Since 2015, Léon and Marie-Hélène are at the helm of ESM. To commemorate the company`s 30 years, they created a logo representing the team’s vision.
